Travel In Mexico: Safe or Unsafe?

There has been terrible headlines on Mexican crimes that possible tourist to the area are able to read. For instance, recently there were several bodies found headless, and with other body parts missing, according to www.mediabistro.com and yahoo news. These bodies were found in areas that tourists/travelers do not frequent and the victims were not tourist, but does that make those that would like to visit Mexico feel any safer? Well the President of Mexico and Jorge CastaƱeda, an MSNBC contributor, and former Mexican foreign minister says that it those that want to visit should.

I have yet to visit Mexico and as I continue to check on the status of the country's drug wars they seem to be in one area. The areas that I am looking to visit, Veracruz, Yucatan, Puerto Vallarta, are not amongst those with the violence. Does that make me or other travelers safe? Should I still question these criminals ability to reach travelers? I choose to lean on the side of caution when I inform my clients about traveling to Mexico. I feel as if I will be safe in the areas that I am looking to visit, but telling the my public of information that I am aware of is an ethical choice. Upon your travels abroad, not just to Mexico, be sure you find out about any political problems or intra-country crimes that are going on before making your final decision.  Check here often or contact me by email for any questions you may have.
